The 30-year veteran announced September 15 that he would take a leave of absence.

McLean-based Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) reported Craig A. Dubow, chairman and chief executive officer, will officially resign his post due to disability from a debilitating medical condition. The 30-year veteran previously announced September 15 that he would take a leave of absence.

Dubow will be replaced by Marjorie Magner and Gracia Martore who will become chairman and CEO respectively.

After huge swings in the stock market over the last several days, management at companies in the area find it a good time to stock up

AvalonBay Communities, Inc.  (NYSE:AVB),  Chairman of the Board, Bryce Blair, accumulated almost 18,000 shares through various transactions between the August 9th and 10th.

All-in-all the Chairman of one of the largest multifamily developers in the D.C. area, made transactions (acquiring and disposing) totaling 35,800 shares of Arlington-based AvalonBay stock and got in as low as $48.60.

Former CEO and Chairman of Discovery Holdings and Director at Silver Spring-based Discovery Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:DISCA) has sold off a large portion of his stake in the company.

Dr. John C Malone has disposed of thousands of shares in the media giant over the past several months, the reduction in his in the company is most likely related to his succession plans and an employment agreement with CEO David Zaslav.

Malone disposed of 62,000 on July 1st - according to the latest SEC filing recorded yesterday afternoon.

Baltimore-based Under Armour, Inc (NYSE: UA) ended yesterday’s trading session in new territory. Before the previous day’s market open the company reported fourth quarter 2014 financial results that exceeded expectations from analysts.

For the first time in its history Under Armour crossed the $10 billion threshold in market capitalization and settled even higher at just over $11 billion at market close and $104.76 per share.

Baltimore-based Under Armour, Inc (NYSE: UA) surprised analysts with much higher revenue and profit than predicted for the fourth quarter of 2013.

The apparel and shoe maker that is continuously growing in popularity, added $64 million more to its revenue than what analysts had believed would be reported.

The average estimate of 28 analysts was $619 million, Under Armour beat those numbers with a showing of $683 million, an increase of 35%.

Kollmorgen Electro-Optical is expected to be sold for $210 million

Washington, D.C.-based Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) wants to sell its Kollmorgen Electro-Optical subsidiary, and has entered a definitive agreement to do so.

The purchaser of Kollmorgen Electro-Optical is intended to be L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL). The defense contractor will pay $210 million in cash for Kollmorgen Electro-Optical which accrued revenues of approximately $169 million in 2010.

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) (NYSE: CSC), announced that it increased revenue and new business awards in its first quarter fiscal 2012 ended July 1, 2011.

The technology company providing solutions to government and private industries said revenue totaled $4.03 Billion, a year-over-year increase from $3.91 Billion in the first quarter fiscal 2011.

Falls Church, Va based General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) reported declined revenues for the 2011 second quarter with $7.88 Billion reported for the three months period compared to $8.1 Billion in 2010. But net income increased to $653 Million in the quarter 2011, it was $648 Million in 2010.

Information Systems and Technology was the leading division in the second quarter measured by revenue, bringing in $2.8 billion.
