The Washington Post Company Net Income Cut in Half

The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO) released its earnings report  today for the second quarter of 2011 ended July 3rd.

Net Income totaled $45.6 Million or $5.74 per share in the quarter versus $91.9 Million or $10.00 per share in the same period last year.

Revenue was also down 10% to $1.073 Billion compared to $1.197 Billion in the second quarter of 2010.

Education continued to be the revenue leader bringing in $628.7 Million through The Washington Post's Kaplan division. The revenue reported for education was down 15% from the $742.9 Million generated last quarter in 2010.

Newspaper publishing revenue totaled $162.7 Million in the second quarter, down 6% from $172.7 Million in 2010.
