Volkswagen of America, Inc with headquarters in Herndon, Va., announced a 22% increase in its auto sales, up significantly from July 2010.
By the end of July 2011, Volkswagen sold 29,066 vehicles, a 21.7% increase over July 2010. For the Year-to-date, Volkswagen sold 183,191 units
"July was a strong month and signaled a good start for the second half of the year," proclaimed Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen of America, Inc. "For the seventh month in a row, we significantly outpaced the industry performance, showing strong baseline demand for our products."
The maker of the Volkswagen New Beetle said it was its best July since 2002.
The continued volume seller was the Jetta with a 50.9% increase to 15,713, over 5,000 more cars of the new model were sold last month than the same time last year when only 10,413 were sold. Year-to-Date, the Jetta has sold 107,465 units.
Passat sales were revived with the all-new 2012 model, the first Passat Dealer Experience vehicles were delivered last month.
The Golf also set a sales record posting 1,974 units, its best performance since July 2008
"With our strongest-ever line of Volkswagen products, we are pleased to see more signs the enthusiasm for our vehicles continues to grow," stated Browning. "With the all-new Passat and Beetle due in dealer show rooms this fall, we are confident the momentum will continue."
