SAIC Awarded $25 Million for Explosive Baggage Detection System Upgrades

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) a $25 million contract to upgrade security systems that detect explosives during checked baggage screenings.

SAIC will upgrade the 210 Reveal Imaging CT-80 systems to its successor, the CT-80DR. The CT-80DR includes proprietary dual-energy computed tomography (CT) X-ray technology. The system also has the ability to distinguish between true detection and false alarms at a cost-effective price point.

Reveal is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAIC and has distributed the space efficient system all over the U.S. and other countries around the world.

SAIC has approximately 41,000 employees worldwide and is headquartered in Tysons Corner area of McLean.
