Bargain hunters can soon rejoice. Downtown Silver Spring will get a new Ross department store in the coming months, according to “coming soon” signs in the windows of the City Place Mall. Ross will lease the space that was previously occupied by Gold’s Gym.
The new store is part of an effort by mall owner Petrie Ross Ventures to revive an original section of Silver Spring’s shopping core. Part of that revival includes major updates to the mall’s structure, including a “facelift” and interior makeover, as well as a renaming of the five-level mall to Ellsworth Place.
Burlington Coat Factory and Marshalls currently serve as anchors to City Place Mall. Other retailers anticipated to open at the mall include Old Navy, Michaels, and Revolutions, an entertainment venue geared toward adults that includes features like a bowling alley, live entertainment, a sports bar, laser tag, and an arcade.
