Constellation Energy Acquires Oklahoma Company before Merger

Before getting bought itself by Chicago-based Exelon Corp (NYSE: EXC), Baltimore-based Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) announced that it has completed the purchase of ONEOK Energy Marketing Company (NYSE: OKE).

The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based retail natural gas marketing company was acquired for $22.5 million and has 26,000 customers in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, Wyoming and Illinois.

Constellation bought the company to expand its customer base and offer more business and residential services.

"We're pleased to bring OEMC into the Constellation family and broaden the natural gas services we can offer in the mid-continent region," stated Mark Huston, head of Constellation Energy's retail business. "We look forward to delivering the customer experience and innovative solutions that are the hallmark of Constellation's growing retail business."

Constellation Energy just announced the final site selection of its new Baltimore headquarters, a new building will be erected at the Harbor Point development, contingent upon the completion of the Exelon and Constellation Energy merger.
